Love vs. Lust: Romeo and Juliet are obsessed, infatuated, out of control, and irrational. Sounds like lust to me.

At the start of the play Romeo falls in love with Juliet instantly after just meeting at the masquerade ball is romeo in love or is it just lust?. In act 1 romeo is distraught about Rosaline not loving him back, but then just that night he meets Juliet and then quickly falls in love with her with just minutes of meeting. lust is what Romeo is feeling not love Romeo has lust towards Juliet's looks but romeo thinks he is in love with juliet. Romeo does not spend enough time to fall in love as he has not even talked to her yet but he is already 'in love' with her looks. Romeo this is not love this is lust as you only get to see her and not actually talk to her. What lady is that which doth enrich the hand Of yonder knight?” this quote told by romeo is about how he sees a beautiful girl and falls in love with her looks. overall romeo does not love Juliet when he meets her but he is in list with her looks.

How significant is Romeo's belief in fate and fortune when it comes to the audience's understanding of the events leading up to Act III, Scene ii?

Romeos belief in fate and fortune is that everything that happens in life happens for a reason. he believes that his life has been planned already and what happens to him is fate. Shakespeare uses positioning Techniques to show that Rome believes in fate and fortune and this is seen all through the play. " This day's black fate no moe days doth depend, this but begins the woe others must end" this helps the audience understand that the fate that comes to him is because of the mistakes he has made in the past. Shakespeare has used the technique of foreshadowing, which can contribute to the role of fate, you can see this as it helps the audience understand that something bad is going to happen the future for romeo. this happens all through the play as shakespeare keeps linking back to love and how it has an affect on romeo and juleps relationship.

In Act 1, we are already made aware that there can be multiple representations of love. Based on what we know of Romeo at this point in the play, how does Shakespeare represent love through the character of Romeo.

In Romeo and Juliet Shakespeare represents love in many different ways. In act 1 Romeo explains that when he is in love with a girl it is the end of the world when she does not love him back, you see this at the end of act 1 when Romeo locks himself inside his bedroom when he finds out Rosaline does not love him and goes into a state of depression "Out of her favor, where I am in love". Throughout Act 1 Shakespeare uses different language to express Romeos feelings upon love in a deeper way.  "Why, such is love’s transgression. Griefs of mine own lie heavy in my breast, which thou wilt propagate, to have it pressed With more of thine. " the Language used in this quote shows us that Romeo is very upset and distraught and he thinks that being in love is very hard and difficult and that love is never on Romeos side. Throughout Act 1 Shakespeare shows love as something that is very confusing and wrong, he helps explain it by using the characters Romeo and Rosaline.
